In 2025 St. Andrews celebrates it's 900 year anniversary. Known as the oldest church in Darlington, it is believed that it was built on the site of an earlier Saxon church. Some stones from the earlier church are embedded in the interior walls of the present church.

Prior to May 2025 – Book launch event TBC. *Book and commemorative tea towel to be on sale at each event
May 2025
Sunday 25th May – Rogation Sunday walk around the parish boundary. Departing from the Church Hall, with joining points along the way
June 2025
Sunday 1st June – Classical Concert celebrating the history of St Andrew’s Church presented by The Boreal Wind Quintet and Friends.
Saturday 21st June – Sunday 29th June – Haughton Weddings Through The Ages Exhibition' in St Andrew’s Church. Wedding Dresses, photographs and ephemera on display throughout, with opening times for viewing.
Saturday 28th June –Summer Celebration on Haughton Green, marking 900 years of St Andrew’s and 200 years of Haughton Methodist Chapel – bring a chair and enjoy!
Sunday 29th June –Renewal of Marriage Vows Service, open to any couple who would like to celebrate their marriage and the church as a special place for joining people together in marriage.
July 2025
Saturday 12th July – Talk : Expressions of Faith Illustrated by Ecclesiastical Embroidery Throughout the Centuries by Helen Kendrick, with cheese and wine in St Andrew’s Church
Saturday 19th July – ‘Norman Knight’ – a Saturday knight celebrating all things Norman in the Church Hall. Supper, drinks, entertainment and so much more!
September 2025
Saturday 13th/Sunday 14th September – English Heritage Open Weekend with Art Exhibition – take time in this beautiful church to appreciate it’s history over 900 years.
Saturday 13th September - Coffee morning in Church Hall on Saturday 13th Sept. Drinks, cakes and stalls.
Saturday 20th September – Professional vocal consort Vox Populi present ‘Beyond the Stars’; an enchanting evening of reflective choral works and heavenly harmonies from across the ages.
October 2025
Saturday 4th October – Andrew’s @ 900 Quiz Night in Church Hall, with refreshments and prizes!
November 2025
Sunday 2nd November –Memorial Service to remember loved ones and the role of St Andrew’s over the years as a special place to give thanks and remember those we have loved and lost
Saturday 29th November – St Andrew’s Big Praise Concert with guest speaker Ali Bianchi
Sunday 30th November –St Andrew’s Day Patronal Festival Service with Bishop Sarah, followed by lunch in the Church Hall
November-December 2025
The launch of a 2 month Exhibition of St Andrew’s @ 900 at Hopetown Darlington.
