Worship Services

St Andrew's Church - The Next Steps in Worship and Christian Mission

A profile of the new services that have been introduced at St. Andrew's from the 1st Dec 2009.

9 am Early Sunday Morning Worship
Logo: For 9am service at St AndrewsThe service will be for those who enjoy more traditional worship. There will usually be four hymns or worship songs. It will be reflective, and will aim to be no more than an hour in length. On the first Sunday of the month, it will be a Morning Service of the Word, following the order of service booklets currently in use. It will be Holy Communion on other Sundays.

10.45 am Sunday Morning Worship
Logo: For 10.45m service at St AndrewsThis service will play a key role in the encouragement of Christian discipleship for the majority of our members. It will cater for people of all ages, and be an 'omnibus' service like those offered in recent years at 10 am and 10.30 am. As such it will have a great variety of worship patterns and styles - All-Age Services for Red Letter Days (e.g. Christmas & Easter), Holy Communion and Services of the Word. Sunday School, Pathfinders and Creche, will be provided and the support of Christian parents will be a priority. Children's groups will be offered most weeks, except in holidays or when there is an Andrew's Family @ 4 (see below).

12.45 pm Baptism Services
Logo: For Baptism service at St AndrewsThis service will support the ministry towards families on the fringe of the Church and Christian faith. It will be focussed entirely upon the baptism of children and adults. We would like a Band to play music for three well-known songs of worship. It will be 30 minutes in length. In terms of follow up, we will invite the newly baptized to the new monthly service - Andrew's Family @ 4 - for their welcome to St Andrew's.
3-4pm Tea and Praise
Logo: For 3pm Tea and Praise service at St AndrewsThis service will be on the second Sunday of the month at Oban Court, Whinbush Road, starting at 3.00pm.

We'd like to invite you to join us for some good company and a chance to have a chat and some tea and cake at St Andrew's "Tea and Praise". We're planning to have some entertainment, community singing and, starting at around 4pm, some well known hymns and some prayers. The afternoon will finish by 5pm. We would love to see you there - drop in to Oban Court any time after 3.00pm and give it a try.

4.00pm Andrew's@4Logo: For Andrew at 4 service at St Andrews
This service will be at 4 pm on the fourth Sunday of the month. It will be fluid in style, experimental, interactive and non-bookish. We want parents with young children to feel at home in this service, and will try out some of the new 'messy' Church approaches. All communication will be kept simple and short. A Band will lead music and worship alongside JAM (the children's music group - Jesus And Music). We will make it possible for parents and children who come to the 10.45am to support this service and to befriend the new people coming to the Church.

6.30 pm Sunday Evening Worship
Logo: For 6.30pm service at St AndrewsThis service will be aimed towards those who enjoy reflective and quiet styles of worship and music. It will be in the Chancel in Church, on the first, third and fifth Sundays of the month. It will offer Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month. There will usually be four hymns or worship songs in the service.

We hope that you will agree that this is an exciting range of services. It represents a real attempt to widen the Net of St Andrew's. At the same time it is trying to work within the scope of our current resources and strengths.

Confident that God is guiding us to offer them, we pray that we may be more fruitful in his love, worship and service.
